Cover and Title
The cover of the book shows the image of a person in point blank with a machine gun and below the image of a airplane with an terrorist within it holding arm, the cover is reasonably good as its attractive and appealing. The title of the story "The Indian Soldier" is pretty straight forward and simple giving the readers an clear indication of the plot, even though the title is apt for the book I would have liked to see an different title unique and appealing.
Theme
We normally have seen many children having an dreaming of becoming a solider once the grow up and serve the nation , but once they reach that stage the patriotism some how diminishes and they switch into something relative to what they see greater than severing the nation. The book also starts in a similar way when Arjun gets to select two things on the same day that is to turn towards an IIT or NDA for the nation.
Arjun picks the later to serve the nation , the initial part of the book shows on how her joined NDA and his training and life in the camp and becomes an loyal soldier for the nation with the inspiration and motivation his grandmother gives him where he is down and out and in the meantime a friendship also blossoms well.  Then comes a twist where an terrorist  which made Arjun think more on his decision to become an soldier and his return. Life then give him different twist when he come across on the saving of airplane hijack. How will he handle that is the climax of it
Language and Narration
The language used in the book throughout is simple and easy to understand. The narration is a place where I could say the book has something to improve, there are places of unnecessary lag and stretch and there are also places which doesn't make pure sense in the wildest imagination even though this is a fictional plot and it does require lots of ground work. The final part of the book is too much elaborated without the need of it as it does lengthen the number of pages without even the need of it.
What I Liked and Disliked
The initial part of the book is beautiful where the decision of joining NDA. The role of grandmother is also highly emphasizing. I didn't like the narration aspect even though the plot is wonderful there are unnecessary lags in the flow of reading.
